Organizations nowadays are increasingly moving towards adoption of Cloud Services. Mentioned below is the list of Risks an Organization can face during various stages of Cloud Services implementation. Also provided a list of respective controls countering those risks:

Before aggregating a list of risks and controls for cloud strategy, it would be worthwhile to first undertake the 2 stages mentioned below. This would ensure a robust and holistic risks and controls review for any cloud services.

Stage 1: Understanding the business case for cloud migration

  • Need for migration to cloud
  • Applications requiring migration, requirements,?
  • Available service models and characteristics
  • Overall migration strategy

Stage 2: Understand CSP capabilities

  • Alignment with migration strategy
  • Background/issues with CSP (in news)
  • Gap Analysis
