Cloud Seeding: The Truth
Recent rains in #Dubai and the wider UAE have been blamed on cloud seeding. Mention has been made in the media of the work of the UK's 英国巴斯大学 and the drones that were designed and manufactured there for the UAE's cloud seeding programme. Although this is a fine example of collaboration between the UK and UAE, it was not the cause of the recent rains.
I can, in confidence, reveal the real reason for the rains: An exchange programme beteen the UK and UAE, as part of the wonderful work of the UAE-UK Business Council , the British Chamber of Commerce Dubai (BCCD) and the respective Embassies.
For over 50 years, the UK and UAE have traded goods and services, but now the time has come for them to trade weather.
As I sit here in Oxford on a hot and fresh Spring day, watching the reports of rains in Dubai, may I commend the work of all involved in exchanging the weather, at least for a few days. That said, just as our railways curdle and warp at the first hint of heat, the Dubai road network has its own thoughts on the liquid sunshine for which the UK is world famous.
As two nations, the UK and the UAE have a long and proud history of collaboration, trade and opportunity. Many thanks for exchanging the weather for a few days, but before the UK announces drought, red weather warnings and hose pipe bans, please can I ask to return to the status quo.
