Cloud migration, managed services and closing the skills gap in data centres

Data centres have evolved considerably over the past decade, to reach today’s high powered computing centres, deploying AI tools and services and equipped with advanced cybersecurity and data aggregation features. And as demands have risen, roles have changed, particularly during COVID-19, as moving to the cloud has become an increasing priority across the world’s businesses.

“One reason for the explosive growth of cloud is that on-premise infrastructure simply isn’t as compatible with remote working as the cloud, so businesses are increasingly migrating over,”

explains Jon Lucas , the Co-Founder and Director at Hyve Managed Hosting .

Hallmarked as a critical digital transformation area, the IT market is ripe for the shift. Cloud adoption can reduce IT costs, allow for greater flexibility, bolster scalability and pave the way for more efficient collaborations - to name just a few of the benefits. And so, with demand showing no signs of slowing down, cloud native software is on the rise, while the security of the hybrid cloud is at an exceptionally high level.?

Amid the need to bolster the growing remote workforce and the overarching importance of keeping our evolving digital world stable, secure and efficient - big data and data mobility is also in high demand. Digital transformation represents an exciting moment in the data centre industry. But with it, comes the urgency for agility and digital skills. Fortunately, there are many managed services which help make the shift more efficient for the industry.

Meanwhile, the next generation of data centre experts are being educated by the likes of 施耐德电气 at Schneider Electric University and other such specialist industry institutions. Initiatives such as these will prove pivotal in closing the digital skills gap, and ensuring that the sector has the talent that it needs to keep on top of emerging technologies.
