Position: Cloud Data Architect

Location: New Albany, Indiana (Hybrid Role)

Employment Type: Full-Time Direct Hire

Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 plus full benefits package


Role Overview: The Cloud Data Architect will design, implement, and optimize data architecture solutions within a cloud computing environment. This role is pivotal in leveraging data to drive informed decision-making, enhance business processes, and support innovation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data is securely stored, efficiently processed, and readily accessible for analysis and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and data requirements. Design scalable, reliable, and efficient data architectures in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Data Modeling: Develop logical and physical data models, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance. Implement best practices for data modeling, including normalization and denormalization.
  • Data Integration: Define integration strategies and design data pipelines to move, transform, and load data from various sources into the cloud platform. Ensure data quality and consistency across sources.
  • Database Technologies: Select and implement appropriate database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) based on project needs. Optimize database performance, scalability, and security.
  • Cloud-Native Services: Leverage services like AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory to automate data workflows. Implement cloud-based storage solutions (e.g., S3, Azure Blob Storage).
  • Data Security: Implement security and access control measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Data Governance: Define and enforce data governance policies, including data cataloging, lineage, and dictionary management.
  • System Performance: Monitor and analyze system performance, resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Implement strategies such as caching, indexing, and partitioning.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, data flows, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to support their needs and enhance the data architecture.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role with a focus on cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience with data integration tools and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer) are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Cloud Data Architect, preferably in healthcare.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of network and security principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
