Cloud bursting is real. And useful!

Abiquo just made cloud bursting easy!

I confess, when my CTO told be we were going to deliver a change to our cloud automation feature, Action Plans, which would be able to automate actions on any cloud, I didn't immediately see the impact. And then I got it. Combining our existing auto-scaling, monitoring and VM automation with this new Control feature, we just created true, easy to use cloud bursting! Like, point-and-click and you can set up the ability to provision new workloads in any cloud, based on the performance or availability of another set of workloads. And that set can itself be across multiple clouds! Oh yes, we can do it by schedule too.

Wow.

So, what does that mean? You can have a web application in AWS US-East and scale it to Azure. Or add web servers in AWS-Europe when your ad runs in the middle of a key sporting event. Or watch your application's performance with the performance of your back end db servers and scale up and down as you need.

You can see the possibilities are endless; add servers at times to serve regional customers, monitor applications already spread across multiple clouds and scale up/down as they need and so on.

I wrote this blog post with some more details and links to documentation for you, tell me what you think!
