Closing This Chapter with Dub Nation

Friday September 16th, 2022, my last day working for the Golden State Warriors. This was my second turn with this organization, and what an amazing experience it was. This year would have been my 17th season with the organization and in the last 10 we made the playoffs 8 times with 6 finals appearances and 4 NBA Championships. Things like this don’t just happen, it takes work, and I got lucky to be part of such an amazing team and organization. Off the court we opened a brand new arena, Chase Center, on September 6th of 2019, however my work on the new arena started much earlier in 2017. This was the major reason I came back to the Warriors in 2012.

Mayor Ed Lee Statue at Thrive City Gatehouse

?????????????After Joe Lacob and Peter Guber purchased the Golden State Warriors I was working as the sales manager with the PGA TOUR in San Francisco. In that role I was lucky enough to work closely with the Mayor of San Francisco, Edwin Lee. I’ll never forget a breakfast we had with him at TPC Harding Park in which he shared that he just met with the owners of the Golden State Warriors and they talked about the team moving to San Francisco. He was adamant that this was going to happen. About a year later my job required me to travel quite frequently and my wife and I wanted to start a family. We knew this wasn’t sustainable and it eventually brought me back to the Warriors. May 22nd, 2012, the same day I shared publicly that I was going back to the Warriors, they announced to the world their plans to build a new arena in San Francisco.

?????????????The Warriors new arena was planned to open in San Francisco in 2017 (opened in 2019) and in my new role with the Warriors I was finding my place as this was a different company then when I first worked there. We were constantly building new hospitality areas to see how our team would operate at a much smaller scale before we built our brand new arena. Around the time we were building our new arena I spent a significant amount of time learning about growing industries, specifically SAAS companies. I believed SAAS companies would help our business grow and they could be a part of our growth into a new arena. After attending several conferences I eventually felt I grasped the business model for several SAAS startups and in many cases I believe I was able to help them grow.????

?????????????I spent a significant amount of time learning about my clients and I’ve found this is where winning at business starts, meaningful connections that add value to our lives and/or business objectives. The relationships I was able to make in this industry allowed me to meet more people than any normal person could and I’m extremely grateful for it. The friendships I’ve made along the way are important to me and I’ve gained so many memories from it that I’ll never forget.

Goodbye Outing with some of the best at GSW

?????????????In my next chapter I plan to maximize my ability to help companies, individuals, and those less fortunate in their growth. I am grateful for the opportunity I’ve had with the Golden State Warriors and in the coming weeks I’ll share more about what I’m doing next. There are so many memories and experiences that I’ll never forget and take with me as stories to share with my kids, and hopefully my grandkids.

?????????????To all of you that were a part of this journey with me please know how much I appreciate you and how much you affected my life. If I haven’t had a chance to connect with you please reach out as I’d love to catch up with as many of you as I can and I can’t wait to hear how you are doing.

An Amazing 17 Years!

?????????????After working in an industry that requires a number of late night’s I know my wife and two boys are excited for me to be home more often. With that said I can’t wait to celebrate our 2022 NBA Championship as a fan on ring night October 18th. Go Dubs!
