Clock Out Without Checking Out

How can you truly unplug from work while still being productive?

Stop me if you've heard this one.

If you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself.

But here's reality.

If you want to grow your business, save your sanity, and not have a hair cut like mine, then you need to learn to delegate and deal with imperfection

This was hard for me to grasp.

I would preach it to each of my coaching clients and then fail to do it myself.

I'd fall for the ole, "well, it will only take a few minutes and it's just easier if I do it" line.

But that's rare.

John Maxwell said it much better than me:

“If you want to do a few small things right, do them yourself. If you want to do great things and make a big impact, learn to delegate.”

― John C. Maxwell

I'd argue that even if you want to do small things and have a life, that delegation is still a thing.

We're talking about smart delegation, understanding your true hourly value, and knowing when to hand tasks off to others.

Whether you're a CEO or starting your career, these insights are universal.

Here's a little math equation to help you know when you should delegate a task.

If someone else can do the same task for 20% of what your hourly rate is, while doing it 80% as well, then you should do it 100% of the time.

This solo podcast episode (it's short) gives you the exact steps to do more of this (or get started) in less than 15 minutes.

Great message Charles. My basketball program improved greatly when I delegated and empowered my staff and players. Keep up your wonderful work!
