Clinical Overview - Lighthouse Recovery Texas

Development of our Clinical Process

We developed our clinical process with the whole person in mind, and as a result, anyone who went through it would benefit. However, substance abuse makes these lessons urgent because of its potentially severe consequences on an individual’s life.

Our program is built around the underlying causes and conditions of addiction, addressing core issues such as:

  • Healthy boundaries
  • Healthy confrontation
  • Healthy relationships
  • Understanding family dynamics and generational patterns
  • Attachment and connection
  • Replacing unhealthy coping skills with healthier options

We prioritize providing intentional and personalized support to our clients and their families. Our team maintains a flexible mindset and can pivot and adjust to changing needs. This approach allows us to do what’s right for each individual. To ensure we can offer this level of care, we limit our group sizes to a maximum of 8 individuals and our clinicians focus solely on clinical work.

Clinical Services We Provide

Individual Therapy - Individual therapy is provided weekly for the entirety of each client's stay.

Family Therapy - We typically delay family therapy for the initial 30-45 days of treatment. This is done intentionally to help our clients focus on their own recovery and work towards identifying the root causes of their addiction. By providing adequate time for self-reflection and personal growth, we can increase the effectiveness of the first family session. Through this approach, we have observed that clients can make significant progress towards recovery and achieve a higher quality session when they have had enough time to process their experiences.

Group Therapy - Our group therapy consists of PHP, IOP and SOP programs. PHP is 30 hours a week for the first month, IOP is 9 hours a week for 3 months, and SOP is 2 hours a week for 2 months.

Psychiatric Appointments - Psychiatry is provided weekly, or based on individual needs.

Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) - If needed, we can provide MAT for our clients. We don’t support Benzodiazepines or Amphetamines.

PHP, IOP, SOP - Focus and Goal of Each

PHP - The PHP portion of our clinical programming provides a higher level of support for addiction treatment. During PHP, our clients are encouraged to identify and recognize healthier ways to live. They are equipped with the necessary tools to remain sober during the therapeutic process. Building a connection and rapport with the treatment team is emphasized. Additionally, psychiatric stabilization is prioritized to ensure that patients are in the right state of mind to overcome their addiction.

IOP - In the IOP portion of our clinical programming, patients are supported in executing their daily lives with clinical support. They are encouraged to act out what they're learning on a daily basis and reflect on it in group therapy. Patients are also given the opportunity to engage or re-engage with their family and/or support system. Ideally, they work through a recovery program to achieve long-term success. More intensive individual and family counseling is provided to address any challenges that may arise. Patients are supported in navigating integration into real life, such as finding a job, going to school, or building healthy relationships.

SOP - The SOP portion of our clinical programming focuses on intensive aftercare planning to ensure that patients are equipped to transition into the next phase of their lives, whether that be returning home, finding an apartment in Dallas, starting a career, or pursuing other goals. We ensure that nothing is missed in the planning process, including setting up counseling and psychiatry, setting goals for the next 3-6 months post-treatment, solidifying their recovery program, establishing a system of accountability, and finding a solid community.

Clinical Team

Our clinical team is headed by Dr. Brooke Keels who has 16 years of experience providing direct clinical care and supervision, and developing and running programs. Dr. Keels is joined by 5 additional therapists who provide individual therapy and run the PHP and IOP groups. In order to empower our clinicians to do their best work, they are asked to focus solely on their clinical duties such as individual and family therapy, and leading group sessions.
