Reaching your full potential can be achieved by daily practice. Small steps will guide you to success. After about one months these steps become a habit and getting closer to your full potential becomes an exercise on auto-pilot. But you need to be persistent. Don’t stop. Never give up. It will be like climbing a mountain one step at a time.
Here are the various steps which will help if applied on a daily basis:
Setting your goals
Every morning, take three to five minutes to write out your top goals in the present tense. You can do this in a journal, on paper. Or you can use your laptop or your tablet. There are actually apps for creating a journal. But it is important that you write your goals down. Just thinking about them, having them in your head is not good enough. By writing out your ten goals at the beginning of each day, you will program them deep into your subconscious mind. This daily goal writing will activate your mental powers. It will stimulate your mind and make you more alert. Throughout the day, you will see opportunities and possibilities to move more rapidly toward your goals. The next day when you write your new goals for this day take some time and revisit your goals from yesterday and see what went well and what not. Keep track of your successes.
Become a “list” person
Take a few minutes, preferably the night before, to plan out every activity of the coming day. Always work from a list. All the successful people I know create lists with the most impactful or the most painful items on the top of the list and then work them down, not matter what. Always think on paper. This is one of the most powerful and important disciplines of all for high performance.
Focus on what is most important
I hear all the time that people claim that they are multi-tasking. I frankly believe that multi-tasking does not exist. If you break down all your activities in minutes or even in seconds you will find that when trying to multi-task you are actually switching from one activity to another. This switching may happen in seconds but it is switch back and forth between activities. I propose that you become mono-tasking. Your ability to work single-mindedly on your most important task will contribute as much to your success as any other discipline you can develop.
Look after yourself first
Your health is more important than anything else. By disciplining yourself to exercise regularly and to eat carefully, you will promote the highest possible levels of health and fitness throughout your life. People tell me that they could do a much better job if the would sleep better or longer or if they could realize emotions while doing sports. What are you waiting for? If you don’t look after yourself first who will? This is not selfishness. It is the opposite. How can you love somebody if you don’t love yourself? How can you give what you don’t have?
Never stop learning
Your brain is like a muscle. And if you don’t use your muscles they will disappear. Continuous learning is the minimum requirement for success in any field. And continuous learning has never been easier than today. Check out the LinkedIn learning. Over 10.000 course are waiting here for you. Or discover the world of podcasts. Use e-books and YouTube videos. It has never been so easy. Make it a habit.
Never walk alone
So, you are climbing the mountain of your personal growth. But never climb alone or even worse never climb with the wrong people. Relationships are everything. Build time for your relationships into every day, no matter how busy you get. Here also LinkedIn is a great tool. And stay humble because five little words will do a magic trick for you: “Can you help me, please?” People love to help. So, simply asking for help will open doors to new opportunities you have never dreamed about.
Just do it
These six steps will ensure that you perform at the highest level and get the greatest satisfaction and results from everything you do. Study these six steps and then make a plan for how you can incorporate each of them into your daily life. You will be observing the difference in less than one month.
Never stop questioning
3 年…the last paragraph is somehow strange to read with your company background “just do it“ ?? Good article and so true ??
