The Climate Ready Buildings Training educates affordable housing project teams – including building owners, architects, and contractors – on how to design and construct high-performance buildings that are resilient against the increasing pressure of climate change and align with NY’s climate goals.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how the climate crisis and subsequent NY policies impact the building industry, insight into design and construction strategies, such as Integrative Design Process (IDP), and HCR-specific funding opportunities.
All attendees will be entered into a raffle to win a free iPad!
Pratt Ice Box Challenge: Empowering Tomorrow’s High Performance Designers

This event will celebrate and showcase student work from the?Pratt Institute’s Ice Box Challenge . Originating from Brussels, Belgium, the Ice Box Challenge demonstrates the benefits of high energy efficiency Passive House strategies through a public scientific demonstration comparing two ice-filled boxes to see which keeps the heat out better. In the first-ever student-led initiative in the US, Pratt Institute students raised awareness about the role of high-performance buildings in reducing energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and combating climate change. Join us to celebrate their work and hear from experts in the field.

Decarbonizing Your Building: A Workshop to Help You Strategize & Electrify
Apr 30, 2024 – 6:00pm to 8:00pm | Brooklyn Heights Library
Learn from technical experts and industry professionals about heat pumps, heat pump hot water heaters, and other high-performance technologies to make your residential building more efficient, healthy, and safe. Speakers will discuss current financial incentives and best practices for building decarbonization before answering your questions. This is intended for 1-4 unit building owners and co-op/condo board members, managers, and operators.
The event will be led by Building Energy Exchange, Steven Winter Associates, and Con Edison and co-hosted by Council Member Lincoln Restler and Brooklyn Heights Association.

Climate Mobilization Act Series: Affordable Housing Training

The Climate Mobilization Act Series: Affordable Housing Training educates affordable housing stakeholders – including building developers, owners, architects, engineers, and contractors – on what the Climate Mobilization Act (CMA) means for the affordable housing sector.
The 2024 compliance period of the CMA’s cornerstone building emissions law, Local Law 97, is rapidly approaching. This training and live Q&A demystifies Local Law 97’s regulations for affordable housing. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of what their compliance obligations are, learn proven strategies to meet compliance, and reduce their carbon emissions
