Climate & Nature Action: A Call to UK Businesses

The UK is facing a dual crisis: climate change and biodiversity loss. These crises are deeply interconnected. Climate change exacerbates habitat loss, while the destruction of natural habitats accelerates climate change. For example, the loss of ancient woodlands not only reduces biodiversity but also diminishes the land's ability to sequester carbon, thus contributing to global warming.

The recent State of Nature report highlighted that nearly one in six species in the UK is at risk of extinction. Habitat loss, pollution, and climate change are major drivers of this decline. Ancient woodlands, like those we aim to protect, are crucial for biodiversity but are often in poor condition. By restoring these habitats, we can simultaneously combat climate change and halt biodiversity loss.

At The Woodland Trust , we believe that businesses have a crucial role to play in addressing these challenges. By investing in nature, companies can not only mitigate risks but also unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation.
