Climate impact measurement made easy!

Did you know that?the most commonly quantifiable measures that are used in the measurement of climate impact are:

  1. Carbon Equivalent (CO2e):?This metric is a way to express the impact of different greenhouse gases in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that would have the same global warming potential. It helps in comparing the overall impact of various emissions on climate change.
  2. Energy Reduction:?Focusing on reducing energy consumption is a key strategy to mitigate climate change. This involves improving energy efficiency, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and adopting sustainable practices in various sectors.

While carbon equivalent and energy reduction are indeed crucial measures in assessing climate impact, there are several other metrics, indicators and frameworks out there that scientists and policymakers use to evaluate and address the complexities of climate change. The "Planetary Boundaries" concept (from the Stockholm Resilience Center) presents a set of nine planetary boundaries within which humanity should be mindful of to ensure a safe and sustainable existence on earth. The framework Identifies environmental conditions that enable earth to remain in balance and self-regulate within a “safe operating space”. Moving outside this safe operating space increases the risk of generating large scale, abrupt or irreversible environmental changes.?

EWaste Africa has embarked on a journey that offers our clients a free and validated sustainability certificate using some of the global best practice measurement tools to show the positive impact that your decision has for your business and the environment. In 2023 EWaste Africa was able to reduce our clients impacts by 150 t CO2e and a further 729MWh of energy savings. We are on track to double this impact in 2024.
