Climate Change
I saw this graph at a recent EDF climate conference and I thought worthy of sharing here. It is a complicated graph but the way I read it is that as a 50+ person who hopes to live to 80, I am going to be living until 2050, at which time global temperatures are likely to have increased by 2oC (orange dots) - 2.5oC (red dots). If my children live till they are 80, i.e. about 2100, with drastic action temperatures will only be 2oC higher, although without drastic action temperatures may be much higher than the 3oC (brown dots) limit on the graph.
Another interesting thing about the graph is that we already need sequestration to stick to the IPCC recommendation of 1.5oC.
Initially I found the graph depressing but I've started to think about all the exciting opportunities that will come from fixing global warming.
One of the key themes from the conference was that climate change is no longer something that will happen in the future, it is here and now, and we really need to get cracking.
