The Climate Change Math Problem: Are Countries Cheating on Their Emissions?

Last year we partnered with MinuteEarth and Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to call out some discrepancies in the worlds carbon reporting. We're celebrating the 600K views and want to make sure you didn't miss it!
Sneak peak: Canada chooses not to include the massive amounts of carbon released during widespread wildfires in its calculations, arguing that these fires are natural events not directly caused by human activity. Yet, Canada does count the carbon absorbed by its untouched forests, which thrive without human intervention. This selective accounting allows Canada to assert that its logging industry is nearly carbon neutral. In reality, when all factors are considered, Canada's logging activities emit amounts comparable to the total emissions of a country like Colombia.

1 周Insightful research and findings. Increasingly we are sending our wood products abroad which are transformed into wood pellets for heating. These scope 3 emissions should be taken into account by the federal government eventually aswell. Keep up the good work!
