Moving climate heat from specific heat to latent heat brings global cooling.
Moving climate heat from latent heat to specific heat brings global warming.
Latent heat (also known as latent energy or heat of transformation) is energy released or absorbed, by a body or a thermodynamic system, during a constant-temperature process—usually a first-order phase transition, like melting or condensation.
Latent heat can be understood as hidden energy which is supplied or extracted to change the state of a substance without changing its temperature or pressure. This includes the latent heat of fusion (solid to liquid), the latent heat of vaporization (liquid to gas) and the latent heat of sublimation (solid to gas).[1][2]
The term was introduced around 1762 by Scottish chemist Joseph Black. Black used the term in the context of calorimetry where a heat transfer caused a volume change in a body while its temperature was constant.
In contrast to latent heat, sensible heat is energy transferred as heat, with a resultant temperature change in a body.
Ice does get stuck on the poles until it melts.
Vapor does get stuck in the clouds until it rains or evaporates into blue sky.
Over altitude in atmosphere, metamorphose of water can go from vapor down to liquid and solid ice because the triple point is in the range of atmospheric temperature and pressure variations from sky high down to earth surface.
It is easy to move latent heat from liquid water to vapor & ice or from vapor & ice ti liquid water because latent heat moves without temperature difference :
But :
But latent heat moves without any temperature change.
In the ocean cold water goes deep down.
In the ocean cold water goes to the cold poles to make ice.
Anyway :
In climate science there are too many unanswered questions and too many unquestioned answers ...
But : Health & Climate & Energy are really very complicated and delicate politico-scientific stuff and also socio-economic stuff but we do the best we can and try to explain it as simple as possible but not simpler than that in the group :
