No Climate Ambition

No Climate Ambition

The National Planning Framework had the right idea, bringing development back to the centre of our cities, towns and villages, cutting out the carbon and returning decision making to the local level. The National Development Plan, which was finalised at the same time forgot about all those intentions. The state has no ambition to tackle climate change, we are following a car based development model and everything is centrally controlled by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

Three Secretary Generals have now appeared before the Oireachtas Climate Committee. It is clear that they have no vision for how we will close the gap in emissions to meet our 2030 climate targets. We have to have a new climate action plan in place by Christmas. We will need ten times the level of ambition shown to date if we are not to be badly burnt.

Watch my questioning of the Secretary General for Housing, Planning and Local Government here.

Hi Eamon, Please take a look at our website www.dipetane.com . We are reducing emissions in transportation very significantly and would make a massive difference if our product was adopted nationwide.
