Clients'? Transformation to IBM Cloud

Clients' Transformation to IBM Cloud

More than ever, companies are continually reevaluating and evolving the strategies they implement in order to remain competitive. Agility is key, as they quickly need to adjust to ever-changing business environments, technology advances, logistical challenges and increased security requirements. Today, I’m proud to share examples of two more clients that IBM is working with to help accelerate this transformation:

Booking Group, a car rental service serving more than 150 countries, will be using IBM Cloud and IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service to securely deploy workloads and manage their public cloud infrastructure – allowing them to adopt a flexible cloud strategy to help securely host workloads (like booking reservations and financial reports) that offer access to unique data-driven insights about demand for car rentals in local markets. With these capabilities, Booking Group can quickly adjust availability to meet customers’ needs, while helping to securely manage data.

EGYPTAIR Duty Free, like many in the aviation sector in the era of Covid-19, is looking to new technologies to reinvent their services and unlock an array of new experiences for their customers. EGYPTAIR Duty Free is leveraging IBM Cloud to scale and modernize back-end operations and host its SAP Travel Retail System. EGYPTAIR is also tapping into IBM Watson Assistant to create an AI virtual agent to transform their travelers’ shopping experience. Through technologies like hybrid cloud and AI, EGYPTAIR will be able surface distinct new trends to change travelers’ experiences and offer enhanced security, agility and operational efficiency.

We’re excited to continue working closely with our clients, helping them chart their course during this period of transformation.

According to a recent EU study (https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/pdfscache/37043.pdf), only 36% of EU enterprises used cloud computing in 2020. More than half of these enterprises used advanced cloud services to run business applications. Congratulations, Booking Group and Igor Demchakov, on driving cloud adoption in Latvia!

I think both these use cases are ideal for a new operating model, leveraging hybrid cloud, AI/ML, and data to meet the changing needs of the market and customer and may result in new products and services. Harish Grama Howard Boville
