In a heartening display of community engagement, Reception House's client volunteer-led Bus Buddies program continues to forge meaningful connections and facilitate essential outings for newcomers in the Waterloo Region.
The Bus Buddies initiative, spearheaded by dedicated volunteers, empowers clients with proficient bus navigation skills to take on leadership roles, aiding fellow clients in acclimating to their new environment. While some excursions focus on practical destinations like medical clinics, others are dedicated to exploring the vibrant fabric of their new community.
Recently, volunteer Farkhunda orchestrated an enriching trip to the renowned St. Jacobs Farmer's Market. In her glowing feedback to staff, Farkhunda expressed her profound gratitude for the day's experience:
"I wanted to express my gratitude for the fantastic first day at Reception House. The day started off excellently, and at 4 PM, we all headed to the hotel. Eight of us went together, and it was a delightful experience. The families were happy, and we even made some purchases, making it a great bonding experience for all of us."
The outing not only provided practical insights but also fostered camaraderie and joy among participants, reinforcing the program's invaluable role in facilitating community integration and mutual support.
