Client Update: Emotions May 2023

Emotions underpin everything we do, and after lived experience of postnatal depression and family loss, founder Rochelle Rich struggled to explain the emotions she was experiencing to her young son, and recognised a lack of supporting resources.?

From this, the concept of émotions as an impact venture was born, harnessing the high visibility of fast moving consumer goods products as a tool to raise awareness of mental health to help others overcome their own difficult times.?

Emotions Org Community product packaging puts a simple yet powerful tool in line of sight, with a nod towards fluctuating emotions, mental health and the logos of supportive organisations such as Lifeline Australia , Beyond Blue and the Black Dog Institute , as a reminder for people who may be feeling vulnerable that there is support available

Recently Red Hat Impact director Paul Howorth caught up with émotions founder? Rochelle to discuss the impact her business has created with their LendForGood loans, and we are thrilled to share with you the latest updates.

Rochelle is generous in sharing her experiences, and in the video she discusses:

  • The challenges in undertaking an equity crowdfunding raise
  • The gender bias in investing
  • Pitching to major retail giants and remaining price competitive
  • Strategically using data analytics and digital specialists for brand awareness
  • Why it is important to to partner

Part impact report and part Masterclass, the conversation offers an incredible amount of knowledge for any impact venture looking to understand their market and make strategic pivots.

émotions successfully raised two impact loans with Red Hat Impact and LendForGood in June and September 2022. The first impact loan (AUD$35,000 over 24 months at 8% interest) catalysed and expanded operations in NSW and allowed them to commence manufacturing 4 products in Melbourne, and has furthered their goal of an inclusive workforce by employing a person living with a disability.

The team now has some major opportunities in the pipeline and are preparing to scale, with Red Hat Impact and émotions both looking forward to sharing more exciting updates with you soon!
