Client Talk FIRESIDE OCTOBER 2023

Hello, welcome to our latest newsletter!

The back-to-school vibe that comes with September has meant that everyone is busy. I have written about "the badge of busyness" before; this dangerous assumption is that being busy is always a good thing. Needless to say, I am hearing some leaders complain that the activity they are seeing is ad hoc and not as focused as they would like.?

The focus of this month's fireside is on career progression. I was honored earlier in the year to contribute to Globe Law and Business's book Preparing for Partnership. The first edition landed this month and I was thrilled to receive my copy. My focus was on the choices that we make and the reasons that lead us to take one path over another.?

I write a lot about the power of coaching, and I am delighted to announce the launch of the EmpowerHer programme. This is a six-month programme that combines 1:1 and group coaching. Participants will receive a combination of individual and group coaching and will explore a range of topics including authentic leadership; business development; feedback and delegation; and limiting beliefs. This isn't about changing women to fit a broken system, it is about empowering women to bring their authentic selves to thrive. To find out more head over to the website or drop me a line.?

Finally, if you are in the legal industry, don't miss out on the chance to win a complimentary coaching session, just by taking part in our Legal Pulse Survey. The survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete and the results will be explored in the next series of the Lawyer's Coach podcast.

It might force you to think about business development differently.

?Here in the first of a three-part series, we set out how professionals can start to think about developing their own style of Business Development. Without being a rainmaker.

Preparing for partnership

Becoming a partner in a law firm is a significant milestone in a lawyer's career, and requires a combination of strong legal skills, business acumen, leadership abilities, and a commitment to the firm's success.

The expectations of law firm partners are changing.

Firms are increasingly looking for lawyers who can bring in new business, develop client relationships, and work collaboratively with others in the firm.

Lawyers who have primarily focused on legal work in the past may need to develop new skills and competencies to meet these changing expectations.
