The Challenge

An organization that is recognized as the world's largest consumer healthcare business recently faced significant operational inefficiencies due to its reliance on manual transportation management and an in-house developed payment processing system. The client's objectives were to implement a scalable solution to enhance operational planning and transportation processes, reduce costs by optimizing transportation management, streamline financial transactions, and automate manual billing processes.

Our Approach

Accelalpha implemented Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Cloud, optimizing the organization's operational planning and transportation processes. The project was executed in two phases. The first phase focused on a standalone Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) implementation without real-time integration with the organization's backend Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, SAP. This phase included the successful implementation of the finance module within OTM, absorbing most finance functions and reducing the need for separate financial software.

Building on the success of the first phase, the second phase was completed within 8 weeks and implemented real-time integration of OTM with SAP using Oracle Integration Cloud. This integration was designed to streamline data processing and transfer information between the two systems, further enhancing operational efficiency.

The Results

The implementation of Oracle OTM Cloud by Accelalpha delivered significant benefits, including:

• The integration of Oracle OTM's financial tool with SAP for efficient transportation cost management.
• The automation of invoice processing, reducing the time required from days to hours, and facilitating accurate contract cost comparisons and tax rate management.
• A considerable reduction in operational costs through the optimization of outsourced last-mile transportation operations.

Following the project's success, the organization is considering expanding the OTM implementation to its operations in Europe. The feedback from the initial implementation has been very positive, particularly regarding the features and benefits of the OTM solution.
