Client Success Story: Relaunching Susan's Career

Client Success Story: Relaunching Susan's Career

At STAR, we are passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges and find fulfilling careers. Today, we want to share a remarkable success story that truly embodies the transformative power of our services.

Meet Susan, a determined client in her late 50s who sought our help due to bilateral hand pain. Though her injury would improve, Susan could no longer maintain her long-term physical role as a Warehouse Manager and would need to be redeployed into a new career. Susan's journey with us began with a clear goal in mind: to find a sustainable and rewarding career that aligned with her physical health and values.

After getting to know Susan and understanding her goals, values, skill set, and experience, it became clear that she possessed multiple transferrable skills and had various options available. Through a Vocational Assessment conducted by our Psychology Services team, we collaborated to create a shortlist of employment options that aligned with her parameters.

Susan had expressed a keen interest in working with individuals facing disabilities and acute challenges, showcasing exceptional administrative skills, life experience, and empathy. Recognising her suitability, we identified a career in Employment Services where she could support others to reach their potential socially, emotionally, and professionally.

Our Career Transition Services (CTS) team worked closely with Susan to craft a tailored resume and online professional profile and supported her to apply for roles with Employment Services providers local to her.

Within one week Susan had secured two interviews, which she prepared for by attending our interview preparation workshop. The outcome? Susan received an exciting job offer the following week!

In Susan's own words, "I got offered the job with?[National Employment Services Provider]?:)?I start 2 weeks on Monday. Although nervous, I am more excited to be starting something new and finally getting back to normality. Thank you so much for helping me get to the end of this journey."

Susan's story is a testament to the work we are doing at STAR to fully integrate Career Transition and Psychological Services into our Injury Management Service Provision – because we don’t just manage injuries, we manage people! Working together, we have established our ReLaunch Program which seeks to make this process more streamlined and job outcome-focused.

We are immensely proud to have played a part in Susan's remarkable career transition. Congratulations, Susan, and best wishes on your new path!

If you or someone you know is facing career challenges and seeking a transformative journey like Susan's, reach out to STAR today for our ReLaunch Program. Together, we'll unlock your potential and pave the way for a brighter future.
