Client:

A leading restaurant chain serving customers high-quality food and beverages for over a decade.

Requirement:

The restaurant chain, rapidly expanding across the city, required a reliable primary WAN to connect all its outlets and improve customer experience. An efficient Internet solution was required in areas where connectivity was not feasible due to high costs, installation delays, etc. They also wanted robust security in place since they were handling customer data.

Challenge:

The client faced the following challenges without a stable internet solution;

  • Expansion Difficulties: Rapidly expanding locations made it challenging to find a network solution that was easy to deploy and manage.
  • WAN Reliability: Ensuring a reliable primary WAN with seamless failover was critical to providing an uninterrupted guest experience.
  • Wired Line Issues: In certain areas, wired lines were not feasible due to high costs, long installation delays, or frequent outages, creating a need for an efficient Internet solution.
  • Data Security Issues: A high level of data security concern necessitated a manageable, robust solution.

Solution: Managed SD-WAN as a Service

The restaurant chain replaced its legacy architecture of strictly wired firewall devices with Viva’s Managed SD-WAN as a Service, a single-managed solution for branch locations with the following features;

Comprehensive Network Management: This service encompasses routing, WAN link termination, traffic management, firewall protection, and cloud configuration and troubleshooting, all delivered through an edge router with embedded LTE, 24/7 support, and a limited lifetime warranty.

Automatic Failover: The wired primary WAN and wireless LTE backup were provided through the same device, using SD-WAN services for seamless failover based on business policy. Guests can enjoy an uninterrupted service experience from the employees even when the primary connection is lost.

Day-1 Internet Solution: In locations where access was unavailable or delayed, the SMOAD SDWAN router, embedded with dual in-built LTE, provided the flexibility to operate stores with LTE as the primary WAN source for as long as needed on an immediate basis.

Improved Security: A robust security solution was provided that could be easily managed without on-site IT support, effectively addressing the high-level data security concerns.

Essential Service Support: Managed SD-WAN as a service enabled the client to support crucial tools and services, including Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, gift cards and apps, guest WiFi, in-store music streaming, and CCTV/in-store security.
