Client Case Study: From Feeling Burnt Out and Stressed to 10x'ing His Business

Once a month I am going to be sharing a client case study from my work as a Transformative Coach / Impact Catalyst.

In this article, I'll be diving deep and sharing what I saw from working with this particular client. While I will keep the client's identity private, I will share with you as much as I can.

About The Client

We will call this client 'Kenji'

This particular client is a dear friend with whom I have been coaching for several years now. He is a successful entrepreneur in the digital marketing space. With his partner/wife, he also built a successful OEM ( Original Equipment Manufacturer) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) business in the Health and Beauty Industry. Essentially he helps brands manufacture health and beauty products in South East Asia.

He is in his early 30s. He started his business in his early twenties. His business fundamentals are incredibly strong and he was able to build his businesses to be successful very quickly over 10 years.

The Problem

When Kenji first approached me, he shared with me that while his businesses were very successful and his relationships were going well, he felt tired, burnt out and bored. He felt stuck, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Kenji shared that his role in his business had now become operations-focused. This meant that his job was now to make sure everything in the business ran smoothly and to make sure it kept growing at a steady pace.

Kenji shared that felt he lost his spark and passion for the business. He felt lost. He feared that if he continued like this something bad might happen to him or his business. He secretly felt himself spiralling.

The Solution (and how we got there)

At first, I spent a lot of time simply listening to Kenji. I wanted to understand what he was going through and what was in his heart.

And it occurred to me to invite him to my monthly in-person mastermind in Bangkok, Thailand. I felt that if he met other entrepreneurs in the community it might lift his spirits or at the very least he might be able to share his sharp business sense with other entrepreneurs who were also facing challenges.

During one of these sessions, something happened. He was talking to another seasoned entrepreneur. We'll call her Jan. Jan is a successful tech entrepreneur who has built and sold many companies. She was now an investor in tech companies. She said to Kenji, "You know Kenji, you are not an operator, you are a builder. You are made to build things, not operate things, and that's why you feel stuck".

Kenji heard what Jan said at a very deep level, a spiritual level.

From that day on, everything changed for Kenji.

Over the next 2 years, Kenji delegated most of his operational tasks to his staff. He added a new vertical to his business. He started consulting for brand owners and business builders in the Health and Beauty Industry. He focused on Brand Owners who were stuck at a mid-six-figure level. He focused on helping them build their brands and businesses to scale past mid-six figures to reach seven figures. Not only that, he showed the brand owners how to focus on building their business with joy and flow and not get stuck in the operational side of things.

He became very successful in this new part of his business. He helped brand owners unlock and unleash their businesses within 3-6 months. He now has a waiting list of clients who are hearing about him through word of mouth.

But wait, there is more.

Renewed with his passion and inspiration for building things, Kenji joined the Thai Muslim Trade Association. He got on the board of Directors and became the lead for International Trade and Digital Entrepreneurship. This position took him to the Middle East to create new opportunities for Thai-Middle East Trade and E-Commerce.

During this time, I asked him, "Kenji, you are doing so much now! Aren't you tired?". "No" he replied. "I don't know how to describe it, but I feel alive. I am working so much but I don't get tired. I am so inspired to do the work that I do". He added.

A few months later, he invited me for coffee. He shared with him that over the 2 years since he realized he was a builder, he had 10x'ed his business. He was now making more money in net profits than in his previous businesses. More importantly, he was genuinely fulfilled with his work and life. He leaned in and said to me, "Thank you for guiding me to realize who I really am".

The Insight

Kenji didn't thank me for giving him a new business strategy or mindset. He didn't thank me for introducing him to a new set of success habits. He thanked me for guiding him to realize who he really was.

To me, when we SEE who and what we are from the inside out, our pure infinite creative potential, we wake up from our tired old thinking about ourselves and we begin to live life from a much higher level of consciousness. Our soul path becomes very clear. It's not something we created, it was always there, we were just so distracted that we forgot it was there.

We don't need to do anything to maintain our heightened level of consciousness, because we now KNOW that we KNOW. And everything that is in the way or is not aligned with our soul path becomes painfully obvious. It just makes sense to follow it, not knowing exactly where it leads, but it feels right.

And then what happens?

To me, Kenji is a great example of "and then what happens?".

You get to live a wonderful life. I would add something my teacher Michael Neill said, "You get to be grateful for your highs and graceful during your lows". Living a wonderful life doesn't mean bad things won't happen. Life is a contact sport, we all get our asses kicked from time to time. Living a wonderful life means you get to show up to life with a much higher level of consciousness. And life is infinitely easier to navigate when you can see clearly what's in front of you.
