CLIENT CASE STUDY: BECKTON SEWAGE WORKS UPGRADE

With support from SAVECO, LOR is providing heavy marine infrastructure to Thames Water as part of the Beckton STW Tideway Project, one of the largest projects ever undertaken in the UK water industry.

Project Overview & Scope:

Facing tough competition from household names in the sector, SAVECO was chosen for its market price point, specification, and capacity to deliver an innovative design for one of the largest sewage treatment plants in the UK & Europe. SAVECO’s brief required a reimagining of traditional bridge design requirements including:

• 3 x 57m long, 4m wide, 4m deep channels, in lanes 7, 8 and 9.
• 1 bridge per channel travelling up and down 24/7, with a design of a rotary lobe pump providing suction of grit on the bridge and level sensors adjusting the level of the pipe, to achieve optimal suction of the grit in the channel.

Project Value & Duration:

• <￡1m. 18-24 months.
• The goal is to fulfil all deliverables by November 2022 and for LOR to install and commission by December 2022/January 2023.

Project Outcomes

• Working closely with principal contractor LOR, SAVECO has developed an original, bespoke design solution, which will serve as a template for future designs within the LOR/Thames sectors. Throughout the project, SAVECO has demonstrated its extensive capabilities - meeting all key deliverables to date with minimal delay.
