This verse is from Bhagvad gita,

|| indriyā?ā? hi charatā? yan mano ’nuvidhīyatetadasya harati praj?ā? vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi ||

Which means,

like as a strong wind sweeps a boat off its chartered course on the water, even one of the human senses on which the mind focuses can lead the intellect astray.

So which senses are we talking about?

→ Hearing → Smelling → Craving → Seeing → Touching

In this internet era, the sense of cravings has taken different shape.? Making easy money is one such craving that has made people lose their mind. Statistically, Phishing remains the most common and statistically significant reason why people become victims of cyber-attacks. Recently, one of my uncle lost Rs 1.5L from a phishing attack. And you might have been so many such incidents on newspapers, social media and news.

According to various reports, phishing is responsible for a large proportion of data breaches and cyber incidents.

To prevent phishing attacks, follow these simple steps:

  1. Think Before You Click: Do not click on links or download attachments from unknown or unexpected emails.
  2. Verify the Sender: Always check the email address and look for signs of spoofing, like slight misspellings.
  3. Avoid Sharing Personal Information: Never provide sensitive information through email or text messages.
  4. Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Add an extra layer of security by enabling MFA on your accounts.
  5. Keep Software Updated: Regularly update your devices and software to protect against vulnerabilities.
  6. Hover Over Links: Before clicking, hover over links to see the real URL. If it looks suspicious, do not click.
  7. Be Skeptical of Urgent Requests: Phishing often uses urgency. Take your time and verify the message's authenticity.

These steps help reduce the risk of falling for phishing scams. Here are some popular mobile security apps that you can use.

Norton Mobile Security: Offers comprehensive protection, including phishing detection, Wi-Fi security, and app security checks. It blocks malicious links in emails, texts, and websites.

McAfee Mobile Security: Provides anti-phishing features, real-time threat detection, and secure browsing. It alerts users about suspicious links and protects against phishing attacks.

Kaspersky Mobile Security: Includes anti-phishing features that detect and block malicious websites and emails. It also has a URL advisor that warns users about potentially dangerous sites.
