CLFI Strengthens Community Development in Sitio Labilab

Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. (CLFI) fosters community development in Sitio Labilab, Itogon, Benguet, through impactful, community-driven initiatives designed to enhance residents' well-being and secure long-term growth.

In recent months, CLFI has closely collaborated with the Sitio Labilab community, gathering vital information to pave the way for sustainable programs tailored to the community's specific needs. As part of this effort, the foundation conducted household surveys and a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis in partnership with the Labilab Cooperative. These efforts aimed to identify opportunities to improve operations and empower the cooperative to play a pivotal role in driving local economic development.

During its most recent visit on September 27, 2024, CLFI presented the results of its extensive data-gathering initiative. The data highlighted key areas where support is needed, including financial literacy, improved access to healthcare, livelihood development, and educational enhancements. These findings set the stage for a collaborative planning session involving community leaders, cooperative members, women's groups, youth representatives, and educators.

This participatory planning session led to the creation of a comprehensive Community Action Plan (CAP), ensuring that all initiatives align with the community's unique goals. The CAP's significant focus is the preservation of Sitio Labilab’s rich cultural heritage while addressing immediate socio-economic concerns.

Earlier in August, CLFI also addressed pressing health needs by donating vitamins to the Labilab Health Center and the Municipality of Itogon, focusing on supporting the health of children and the elderly. This underscores CLFI's holistic approach to community development, addressing immediate needs and long-term growth.

CLFI’s ongoing partnership with Sitio Labilab exemplifies the power of collaboration in achieving meaningful, community-led progress. As the projects outlined in the CAP transition to the implementation phase, CLFI remains committed to providing the resources and guidance necessary for their success. This milestone signifies a shift from data collection to tangible actions, laying the groundwork for inclusive growth and an enhanced quality of life for Sitio Labilab residents.

Through these efforts, CLFI envisions Sitio Labilab becoming a model for sustainable development, showcasing how strong partnerships between organizations and communities can drive lasting, positive change across the Philippines.
