In celebration of the National Teachers' Month, Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI) hosted an exclusive virtual event for Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers. The event was organized to honor their dedication and hard work in promoting education and resilience among Filipino children. Held on October 4th, the day featured a mix of fun, learning, and growth through interactive sessions on financial literacy and disaster resilience.
A key highlight was a session led by Mark Alcantara, chairperson of the League of Corporate Foundations Disaster Resilience Committee, who shared valuable insights on disaster preparedness. His expertise empowered ALS teachers to better navigate challenges and strengthen their resilience as they continue their essential work in the face of adversity.
CLFI Executive Director Jonathan Batangan also emphasized the vital role of ALS teachers in fostering inclusive education. CLFI has supported the Department of Education's ALS program since 2013, providing educational tools to community learning centers. This year marked the fifth National ALS Teachers' Summit, reaffirming CLFI’s commitment to supporting ALS teachers, particularly in financial literacy, so they can impart this essential knowledge to their students.
In addition, Mark Anthony Reyes and Ma. Andrea Bucad offered practical tips on saving smartly, budgeting effectively, and building personal resilience, equipping teachers with essential skills for both their personal and professional lives.
Joshua Flores and Lendsay Brozas hosted the event. They energized the virtual audience with fun games and exciting prize giveaways, making the summit an engaging and memorable experience for all participants.
