Clever Effect #2: FIFA World Tech Cup 2022
Welcome to the second edition of Clever Effect ??
November and December bring us one of the most popular modern's history sports events: The FIFA World Cup.??
This year's edition looks to be one of the most important in recent times, both from a social and a technological standpoints, where the fight for human rights is more relevant than ever and the football industry is poised to undergo a technological revolution ?? ??
Adidas Al Rihla
Let's start with the?Al Rihla?(World Cup Ball), which has an ultra-wideband sensor and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)?. This sensor allows a connection with the cameras around the stadium, which are part of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
Teams can use this technology to analyze player performance and develop data-driven tactics. Additionally, it offers fans configurable data that enhances the experience, such as the average passing time or dribbling speed ??.
In the past few days, this sensor has been in the news because of Portugal's first goal against Uruguay.
Did Cristiano Ronaldo touch the ball or not? In a statement, Adidas said" (...) no external force on the ball could be measured as shown by the lack of 'heartbeat' in our measurements. The 500Hz IMU sensor inside the ball allows us to be highly accurate in our analysis(...)."
Is it possible that Ronaldo scored the goal in a parallel LEGO world?
Hmm, don't think so??
The semi-automatic offside technology
People who don't watch football can go their whole lives without getting it. It's the cause of arguments between former players, former referees, and everyone who gets penalized every week for being a few centimeters too far.
What are we talking about? The offside rule, of course ??
Well, those who have always been confused by this rule can now rest easy. At the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the ball itself will be the ultimate tool for detecting offside positions. During a game, the 12 cameras set up around the field can monitor each player ??
Thus, these cameras capture 29 parts of a player's body, giving them exact coordinates that can be used to show where they are.
Don't worry about the 5 minutes it took for the VAR to decide. Why? Because the data is put together and sent to the VAR room in real time ??
A new technology that will surely change football.

Visa invites thousands of fans to create their own legendary moves in the free-standing Visa Masters of Movement space at the FIFA Fan Festival ??
Fans will enter a digital LED pitch equipped with tracking technology, that will capture and transform their iconic movements into digital art.
They can choose the colour scheme based on fav national colours, beyond taking a shot at a goal or showing off their skills while playing with others to create the personalised dynamic artwork.
As a souvenir, digital art will be emailed to eligible fans, who can also choose to have the digital art minted as a one-of-a-kind NFT ??
QA Engineering - What future can we expect?
The boundary between development and testing is disappearing, according to Albino Luciano Nuta da Costa ??
??"Software developers?should not test their products."
??"Automation knowledge is a requirement for?#qualityassurance ?nowadays. This is essential for?#agiledevelopment ."
??"Literature on QA is limited, but there is a large and helpful online community (especially in Brazil)."

A passionate QA Engineer – Ahmed Mazloum (Q&A)
This month's interview features QA Engineer Ahmed Mazloum. We discussed the role of AI and Machine Learning in the future of software testing.
"Organizations are already using AI for image-based testing, AI spidering, monitoring API testing, and automated testing tasks. AI can help you overcome challenges and accelerate the testing process without human intervention."
This is an interview that both developers and testers will not want to miss!
See you next month with the hottest news from the tech world ??
Merry Christmas????
