How does Employee Relations relate to Human Resources?
Human Resources has so many departments and functions. One of the functions of HR is Employee Relations. According to an article by NCheck, "Employee relations can be defined as the?efforts put in by an organization to create and maintain positive relationships with its employees." While employee relations focuses on healthy and positive relationships between the organization and employees, there are still challenges and issue that must be resolved.
In this article you will read about some of the challenges that employee relations may face:

REMINDER: Beginning April 8, Ohio employers will need to comply with Ohio’s new Pay Stub Protection Act. That means providing every employee with an earnings statement listing wages, deductions, dates and hours, and other information. So far, there’s no penalty for noncompliance (unlike in other states), but there is a process for reporting businesses to the Ohio Department of Commerce if they do not produce the required statements. NOTE: President Trump’s broad effort to target “Illegal” Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies and initiatives sends a clear message to employers: audit your practices, identify and eliminate potential sex and race discrimination that may be motivated by over-aggressive DEI efforts, and above all do not allow your practices to be used as a proxy for hiring minorities or women without regard to merit. To comply with the President’s January 21 executive order, and what is shaping up to be an administration-wide effort to end an “unlawful, corrosive, and pernicious identity-based spoils system,” companies need to take steps to ensure that hiring and promotions decisions are based solely on merit. RE OHIO: After last year’s Northern District of Texas ruling that struck down the Federal Trade Commission’s ban on non-competition agreements, a bi-partisan pair of Ohio senators, Louis Blessing (R-Colerain Township) and Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) introduced Ohio Senate Bill 11 (https://legislature.ohio.gov/legislation/136/sb11), which prohibits agreeing to, enforcing, and even attempting to enforce any such agreement. By the Numbers: More than 30 states have formed committees or taskforces to look at regulating the use of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace, including Colorado, Illinois, and New York, all of which have passed laws that prohibit employers from using AI to discriminate against employees. No such action has been taken at the federal level. (https://www.fisherphillips.com/en/news-insights/comprehensive-review-of-ai-workplace-law-and-litigation-as-we-enter-2025.html) Significantly, on his first day in office, President Trump rescinded President Biden’s 2023 executive order on AI, which sought to “mitigate the harms and maximize the benefits of AI for workers,” because it would stifle innovation and threaten America’s technological leadership.
