CLEEN study update

About the CLEEN study

The CLEEN study is a world-first randomised control trial evaluating the effect of improving the cleaning of shared medical equipment in the risk of acquiring an infection in hospital. To find out more, visit the CLEEN study website and subscribe for updates.

Update

Data analysis for the CLEEN study is complete and we are preparing a paper with the results for publication. We are also presenting preliminary results at the ECCMID ESCMID - European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases conference in April (Barcelona), as a later breaker oral presentation.

Work on the cost-effectiveness evaluation will also commence soon.

We have also completed a time and motion study, evaluating how long it takes to clean specific pieces of shared medical equipment. This will help inform business cases for cleaning service and models, as well as cost-effectiveness evaluations. This is currently under review with a journal.

Our interviews with cleaners and their experience of receiving feedback is also complete. Analysis is also complete.

Some of the findings from this project will be presented at the Infection Prevention Society conference in September in Manchester (UK).

We hope to present findings for the entire project at the ACIPC Ltd conference this year in Melbourne (Australia).
