- Visible Hardware: Brackets are very visible, so in many cases, many people find them attractive and stylish, depending on their design, of course. Many bracket products are plain, ugly, and industrial looking, but many brackets products found on the markets have the ability to elevate the design of peoples' homes.?
Cons of Using Angle Brackets:
- Visible Hardware: Unlike cleats, brackets are exposed, which may not be desirable for a clean or modern design. This statement obviously contradicts the very last "pro" point made above, but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one must decide for themselves what they like. You might love your Victorian-era styled brackets on your living room shelves, but there is a high possibility that your guest think otherwise, so if you are leaning toward brackets, it's a great idea to proceed with caution.?
- Potential for Less Stability: If not properly anchored during installation, there is a high chance that angle brackets may not support as much weight as cleats.?
- Limited Customization: Since brackets come in pre-set sizes and styles, they may not fit all shelving needs as precisely as cleats.
