ClearQuote adds new functionality to help fleet managers track & manage damages more accurately and efficiently

With the ability to automatically identify & track damages uniquely (Damage ID)? fleet managers can stay in the know when new damages occur and easily view the latest status of each of their fleet.

ClearQuote launched new functionality this week to enhance damage tracking and management for fleets - fleet managers can now get alerted on new damages and track them uniquely thereby improving visibility into the condition of their fleets.

Pressure on lowering fleet repair costs

(Commercial) fleet managers are under increasing pressure to lower fleet maintenance and repair costs. Damage costs account for a significant component of fleet repair costs. Our data across more than 500 Light Commercial vehicles (across different mileage and age), shows damage repair costs ranging between £2000-2500 per vehicle at any point in time.??

Fleet managers would like to ideally find a way to reduce damage cost (or at least in some cases re-charge it to users).

This makes damage identification and tracking essential.Even most “well managed” and large fleets still track fleet condition and vehicle handovers on paper. In some cases this is combined with images saved offline or in emails and messages. Hence a lot of administrative effort goes into tracking damages and also identifying new damage vs. old. There has to be a way to make this process more efficient to give fleet managers some chance of reducing damages.

Better tracking = Better control

With ClearInspect / ClearQuote apps, fleet managers can enable team leads (or depot managers or drivers) to carry out inspections on a regular basis (daily, weekly, bi weekly etc.) or at each handover. As part of this inspection, users are guided to capture a predefined set of images (as configured by the fleet manager). A dashboard gives the fleet managers updates on vehicles that have been inspected and those that are due for a check, overdue etc.

Images of the vehicle from each inspection are analysed by ClearQuote to automatically and uniquely identify damages (e.g. each dent, scratch, broken part, etc) . Each of these damages are compared with the latest status of the vehicle - to infer which ones are “new” and which are “pre-existing” (were on the vehicle as identified from previous inspections). Each damage or defect is tracked with a unique ID.?

Fleet managers have a dashboard to easily track which vehicles have acquired new damages and drill down to see more details (inspection details, driver, damage grade/severity,even estimated cost of repair). No more trawling through paperwork to verify new vs old damage (saving hours of manual admin effort every month for the fleet team)

Once damage identification and tracking? is made efficient, fleet managers can use this tool regularly to keep tabs on their fleet. This ensures users are handed over vehicles with accurate documentation of condition and are more accountable for the condition of the asset. We have seen reduction in damage rates after implementation of better tracking, thereby lower damage repair costs.
