1 年Good news all around. With the increasing workload on SysAdmins, due to various factors, the offloading of standard repetitive maintenance cycles is such a benefit. Interactions with end-users is probably one of the most under-appreciated parts of the job. Soft skills will begin to be a bigger part of the position, and I see that as a wonderful evolution of the field. One downside is that the lack of interaction at this most basic and fundamental level may hinder the understanding and development of the technology being used, which I believe to be one of my biggest pros, and an important foundation for any SysAdmin. This may be me being the old man yelling at the clouds, but it's interacting with the technology on this level has helped my understanding of system architecture and the "how" of it all. Very excited for the future of the field. Have a wonderful holiday season, everyone!
