Clear, meaningful, dynamic and finally, ‘on brand’."

Sara Milne Rowe is the founder of Coaching Impact, a company that coaches leaders, teams and organisations to achieve more, learn faster and live better, using the SHED* method (*Sleep, Hydration, Exercise and Diet).

The SHED Method is a ground-breaking series of practices, personal routines and rituals that can help you to make better choices in your everyday life. By encouraging your brain and energy to work in tandem, and harnessing the power of your Mind, Body and Mood, the SHED Method allows you to make better choices under pressure and in the moments that really count, so you can achieve more, learn faster and live well.

Since 2007 the company had grown and now had multiple associates. Everyone was producing their own brand collateral and, despite guidelines, the brand was spiralling somewhat out of control as everyone put their own 'spin' on it.

Sara didn't want - or indeed, need - a whole rebrand, but wanted to build on the existing brand equity and needed to have everything tidied up, refreshed and pulled back into line.

We call this brand 'Evolution over Revolution'.

Before any work is done with an established company, we conduct a Brand Assessment, a crucial step to evolve any brand over time. The subsequent report then helps us all agree on what stays, needs to change or needs to stop, which allows us to formulate a plan with priorities and timelines.

The 'Before' image shows a small selection of the branded assets we assessed. As you can see there was a mish-mash of illustration styles, typefaces and the current brand palette wasn't being used consistently. The logo also, ironically, lacked impact.

BEFORE

As Sara said, ”The Brand Assessment demonstrated that my company branding needed more consistency and a refresh – and gave us a clear roadmap to do it with."

The 'After' image shows a small selection of the branded assets we improved. Colours were aligned and we added more tones of blue. We also ditched the cream colour which reproduced inconsistently across various platforms). We chose a 'mirror' that looked more like a mirror (rather than a porthole or a moon, like the old one), and made the logo have more impact by getting rid of the gradient. We also commissioned an illustrator to bring all the illustrations into line, ditching the 'tabloid-style' cartoons (all ten of them) for the more stylised ones, as you can see. The illustrations also used the brand palette, with the additional shades allowing for diversity and inclusion within the imagery.

The result was more modern, pulled-together and professional-looking.

AFTER

We continued the brand work over brochures, flyers, bookmarks and presentations. We ended our part of the project by training various members of staff on how to apply the brand guidelines in a recorded Zoom session that can now be used to train new joiners.

Sara was thrilled with the results:

"This is a massive call out to the perseverance and creativity of Sapna Pieroux and her team at InnerVisions ID. We met at a social event [pre-Covid], had a drink together, connected and I thought ... "You can really help us with the consistency of our branding".

Since then she has rooted through all our assets - documents- slide decks and created a simple and coherent approach for us all. I think we had about 6 or 7 different versions of various assets - all in different places!

Sapna and her team went above and beyond to make sure things were delivered to testing deadlines and we felt in safe hands throughout the process. They patiently refreshed - updated and developed some fab new designs to link the book - the brand - and the work we do in schools to the work we do with corporations.

This culminated today in four members of the CI team being part of a 'learning session' with Sapna so they can quickly and easily support the rest of the team with the production of materials and keep everyone on-brand. They came off the 2-hour session today saying just how fab she was - and how much time it was going to save them!

We ended up with all our assets aligned so they were clear, meaningful, dynamic and finally, ‘on brand’.

You're a miracle worker, Sapna Pieroux - with the patience of a saint - not only do you clearly do an awesome job at supporting businesses as they rebrand - I'm here to tell everyone that you're pretty damn good at refreshing and evolving a brand when it's been alive for a few years AND we have a laugh! THANK YOU. x"
