Clear Communication(#20)
In a village the entire community relied on a single well for their drinking water. One day a dog fell in the well and died. The water became filthy and undrinkable. The worried villagers went to the old wise man for advice.?They were told to take 100 buckets of water from the well so that clean water would come to the surface of the well. The villagers took 100 buckets but the water status was the same. They went to the wise man again. He suggested to take another 100 buckets.
The villagers did the same but to no avail. The villagers tried a third time to take another 100 buckets as per the advice from the wise man but the water was still impure. The wise said, How come the whole well is polluted even after removing this considerable amount of water? Did you remove the dog's body before taking 300 buckets of water? The villagers said, "No sir, you only advised us to take water out, not the dog's body !!!"
The villagers misunderstood the wise man's advice and failed to address the root cause of the problem because they interpreted his words narrowly.
This emphasizes the importance of individuals actively seeking clarification and taking accountability for understanding tasks fully, especially when instructions are unclear. Asking questions is key to ensuring comprehension and successful completion of directives in any setting.
Clarity in communication isn't just about what's said, it's about ensuring what's understood aligns with the intended message. Without a clear understanding, actions become mere motions, lacking purpose or direction.
The outcome of effective communication is the intended result achieved!

10 个月Great story highlighting the importance of clear communication! It's a reminder that simply addressing the symptoms of a problem might not lead to a solution unless we address the root cause. The villagers in this story failed to remove the dog's body, which was the source of the pollution, despite following the wise man's advice to take out water from the well. This emphasizes the need for thorough communication and understanding of the problem at hand before taking any action. Thanks for sharing this insightful post!
