Cleansing for a New Year

Cleanliness is more than we often consider.
As we approach 2023, I am spending free flow time meditating on Cleanliness. Last evening, it kind of came up in conversation with Tammy Joy as it relates to friendships and her suggested F4 model of Find, Foster, Fix and Fire. And I am now in an open state of reflection on cleansing for my life going forward. I am refreshing on favorite books, remembering on favorite work and projects and hobbies and joys. Which ones still bring timelessness and smiles? Which ones, as Richard Bolles would have put it, are still in the members? Which ones still bring a Hell Yeah? Which ones need to be fostered or fixed or fired? Bear in thought that this is not a mind driven process. Indeed, the mind helps diligently inventory but the heart decides.
A Cleansing Collage
That said, I am creating a Collage of same.
It is a joy in progress. But as I do, it is about cleansing the palate or the palette. It is about Essentialism in practice. It is about the practice of Cleanliness.
I am doing the work. Looking at habits and hobbies, play and work, and life; not "thinking" on things but "feeling" on things... with the intent of that Foster, Fix and Fire... opening myself ever more up to the Find; that is where I am. LP Jacks said, “A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both.” I am more of a believer in studentry as the best version of mastery... but, either way, drawing "no sharp distinction between" work and play, labor and leisure, mind and body, education and recreation... this implies an alignment born of cleansing and Simplicity. Simply pursuing a vision of excellence through whatever we are doing, and leaving others to determine whether we are working or playing... is clean living; almost Prince like, lol. I personally think Prince had that Simplicity of mastery down, letting others to determine whether he was working or playing
Three Questions
My humble suggestion is that we each consider Cleanliness. Reflect on it and what it might look like heading into a New Year. Try out your own Collage. Then, try these questions out...
Do the work, but make it fun. Imagine three spots at a party. The corner where there are people, projects and play with which and whom you still love and adore connecting. A corner where the people and projects and play you no longer feel such. A corner of unknown people, projects and play that stirs your healthy Curiosity. Where are you going and staying and leaving? Let us cleanse ahead of 2023. Leaner, we can better deliver. Join the CLUB.
