We clean our homes regularly. But what most of us do not realize is that many of the common cleaning products contain toxic substances that contribute to chronic health problems and environmental pollution.
It is easy to stick with the same routine and products you’ve been using for years, but I want to encourage you to prepare your own cleaning products. By doing so, you can create a safe environment for you and your family while also protecting nature.
Not everyone can afford the often more expensive ecological cleaning products. Luckily, many natural products that are easily obtainable are cheap and very effective. You will probably find all the ingredients needed to create your own cleaning products in your kitchen cupboard. The basic products are:
In the right proportions, these simple ingredients are highly effective at fighting dust and dirt while being completely harmless to your health and the environment.
RECIPES FOR UNIVERSAL CLEANING PRODUCTS
1. Dishwashing liquid:
Ingredients: 3 lemons, 1.5 cup pf water, 1 cup of fine salt, 1 cup of vinegar.
Preparation: Mix all ingredients in a pot. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until the liquid thickens. Pour the still-warm liquid into a glass bottle. Use like any other dishwashing liquid.
2. Window cleaning liquid:
Ingredients: 2 teaspoons of vinegar, 2 L of warm water
Preparation: Mix vinegar with warm water and pour the solution into a spray bottle. Wipe windows using a newspaper for a streak-free finish.

3. Carpet cleaning powder:
Ingredients: baking soda.
Preparation: Sprinkle baking soda evenly over the carpet. Rub it in gently using a dry cloth in circular motions. Leave it overnight and vacuum thoroughly in the morning.
4. Furniture polish liquid:
Ingredients: 1 cup of olive oil, 0.5 cup of lemon juice.
Preparation: Mix the olive oil and lemon juice. Gently rub the mixture into the furniture. Finish by wiping everything dry with a clean cloth.
5. Dust remover:
Ingredients: water, essential oil (optional).
Preparation: Soak a clean cotton cloth in water and use it to gently wipe surfaces. For added freshness, mix a few drops of your favorite essential oil into the water.
