Cleaning the Section
If you don't know what to post, go to the store. Don't use self checkout. In general. A cashier was cleaning the belt and her work area. She was thorough. This took me back to when I worked in an office.
I call my warehouse/Bird Bathroom my "Office". It's industrial. In the era of hotel reservations I once had the opportunity to work twelve days straight. There is probably an article to write about that.
There was one half day. I worked in a different section. The man who worked the night shift had a dirty desk. He wasn't dirty. Once I sat at a lady's desk and could not believe the level of dust.
I expect men to be negligent in regards to cleaning. This woman didn't particularly like me. For no good reason. I didn't miss anything and when my computer was acting up I moved to another terminal next to Cindy, one of the best agents.
Cindy and Leslie were the most talented in our section. I moved quickly into the number three position which was good enough for me. Let them debate who was Number One. In both cases where the level of dirt took me by surprise; I used antibacterial wipes to clean the desk.

It was a courtesy. If there were piles of papers in plain view- they remained where they were. We had a lot of notes and brochures in case someone asked about a specific property. I did not want to upset his order.
I also did not want to look at a dirty desk. The next time he saw me he gave me a dirty look. If you see something, say something. I don't make a mess if I can avoid it. I have gone to smoker's homes and dumped the ashtray.
One couple had the ashtray next to the garbage. Flick of the wrist. From the era when parents smoked I recalled a full ashtray is a worse smell than a lit cigarette. It's not like I washed the ashtray- I cleared it out.
It is amazing what a meticulous employee can remind me of. A cashier cleaning the belt definitely took me back to a good job where eI made a difference. At least I made a different difference now.
