I swear! Whoever was the bloke that invented the “Office Christmas Party”, surely neglected to send over the operations manuals to the T&T Office. Utter rubbish I say!
I’m a Londoner, and proud of it! I was transferred to the T&T Office a near two years ago today. Most of my experiences have been quite pleasant to date - namely; the warm weather, and weekend trips to Tobago - has made this stint quite a charming adventure. However, I’m not too particular about these local office parties, Christmas or otherwise. What’s my issue? Housekeeping, my dear. Simple event housekeeping.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I love a good soirée. However, and simply put, the staff takes it a bit too far. Despite the obvious parts of the equation - we’re at a party, and we’re at the Office, there’s a well stocked bar - all the elements of a memorable time right? Wrong!!
Firstly, the toilets are not monitored (No attendants... Are they mad?). Secondly, they always run out of paper towels, as if they are some precious pearl that can only be found in the remote regions of the Orient. Thirdly, they tie garbage bags to the fences, and everyone misses the mark with their rubbish, and it ends up piling up on the floor (For God’s sake... no one in their right mind will touch the bag). Need I go on?
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m a firm manager, but i know how how to let loose, bond with the staff, and grab a tumbler or two of rum punch to salute a job well done this year. But, I’m sure that no one will fault me for not having the stomach to endure another year of filth piling up, as the evening merries along. I certainly can’t live with that this year.
The staff have placed bets on what time I’d leave. I’m inclined to join the friendly wager, but then again, there are rules to this sort of thing. I’ll choose to keep it all down this year... the money in my purse, and the lunch in my tummy.
How about you? Comment below on how you plan to experience your office staff parties this year!!! #CPTT #CleanScene
