Kya Bhai ! Kaam nahin aapke pass! Zero emails, Zero Meetings!
A couple of weeks into one of my roles, I was given this eye opener by a fairly senior colleague. I was like why would say so and he proceeded to explain how zero unread emails are construed as zero work for the individual!
It struck me as super odd. Wouldn't the sender be happy if I managed to reply/ address their concerns at the earliest? Turns out not here.
Apparently, if you reply quickly to an email, there are grapevine talks about how you don't have any work and are hence able to reply faster than the average accepted time of email response which in this case is infinity.
More than anything, this speaks volumes about the workplace. If your speed and efficiency are construed as negatives, that's a telltale sign that the organization's culture needs some serious course correction.
