Claude can now analyze your PDFs (With images and graphs)

Claude introduced a new feature that can read all your PDF visuals, such as images, charts, and other visuals. It allows PDFs with less than 100 pages and supports a document size limit of 30MB. You can also upload 5 images or documents with a size limit of 30 MB each to analyze in Claude.

The feature will help you to analyze research papers, financial statements, company reports, and a lot more tasks that could take hours but with this, you can find answers instantly.

It will save lots of time, like an X user states, “Very excited about this release. I spend a lot of time on Claude analyzing AI papers and technical docs with lots of figures so it will be interesting to see how it does on questions and advanced queries over these.”

What can this feature do?

You can analyze any PDF on Claude, ask questions based on your PDF, and ask about the images, charts, and tables in the PDF.

You can analyze any financial statements and better understand charts and tables like balance sheets. You can extract key information from any research paper or any legal document. You can also translate the document and convert your document information into structured formats.

How does PDF support work?

When you upload any document into Claude, it converts each page of the document into an image and also extracts texts from each page. Then Claude analyzes both the image and text to better understand the document.

The documents are provided with a combination of texts and images for analysis which allows us to present insights on visual elements from a PDF like charts, and diagrams.

The PDF support also works with repeated analysis, for high-volume document processing and other use cases.

To know more about it, I uploaded the Q3 24 report of Berkshire Hathway’s financial report and prompted it to give me the reports, and it extracted from tables and gave me all the necessary information.

The PDF support feature is currently available to new Claude 3.5 sonnet users.

Ending Thoughts

Claude is making next-level advances now with back-to-back features released. Only a few days ago, they announced Computer Use which will allow Claude to use your computer with prompts, this is crazy! With the new Analysis Tool feature, it can execute and run Javascript code.
