Clarity is Powerful
Whatever your ambitions are, having clarity is absolutely paramount to your success. Being crystal clear (with what you want to accomplish) and having tremendous tenacity will significantly help you achieve your life purpose. Fortunately or unfortunately, it can take consistent effort to stay focused and keep your clarity.
Having clear objections is imperative. Psychologically, it’s much easier for the brain to recognize and find solutions to clear expectations. Plus, from a motivational perspective, you’ll have a better time staying on track if the end results are clear to you. If you haven’t mapped out your endgame, you could end up anywhere, which could cause anxiety.
Every high achiever knows that well-thought-out, written goals are vital to future success. Although, goal setting is rarely talked about in our education system. It’s interesting that a child can go from pre-K through grad school and never truly learn how to set effective goals. This is troubling.
One of the reasons many people refuse or hide from trying to set up legitimate goals is the dread of making an error in their calculations. Regardless, it’s far better to try to add clarity to your goals than to do nothing at all. If you do absolutely nothing, then more than likely you’ll end up with nothing.
There are many people that confuse having a direction with having a clear goal. For example, going East is a direction, but going to the Eiffel Tower is a specific destination.
How is it possible to set clear, effective goals?
- Write it down. There is something almost magical when it comes to writing down goals. Since we have thousands and thousands of thoughts every day, so much of our thinking and memories get lost, so writing something down immediately forces you to focus. Then once you formulate your plan on paper, you’re giving priority to your ambitions.
- You should be able to simply respond, “yes” or “no.” If you were to ask yourself at the end of the deadline you set on your goal if you achieved it, you should be able to answer “yes” or “no” without an ounce of doubt. This means that your written goals need to be specific and measurable.
Having clarity is powerful and will help you reach your goals, but it does take a focused, conscious effort. I would encourage you to make sure that your written goals are specific and measurable. This way, you will get much closer to achieving your desires and living a life of purpose.
