One day, while travelling from one village to another, Buddha looked at one of his disciples and gently asked him to fetch some water from a nearby pond to quench his thirst. The disciple walked towards the pond, but found the water muddy since a bullock cart had just passed through it. He came back and told Buddha that the water was muddy and not fit to be consumed.
?
After an hour, Buddha repeated his request. The disciple went back to the pond to fetch water. But unfortunately the water was still muddy, as just then some animals had crossed the pond.
The disciple felt disheartened. He thought that the water would always be muddy and now how could he get clean, clear water to drink. The disciple came back to Buddha and told him that the water was still muddy.
?
This continued for a while and Buddha kept sending the disciple to the pond and he kept returning with the same news.
Finally after a few attempts, the disciple found that the mud had settled down, rendering the water to clear. He fetched the water and reached Buddha.
Buddha looked at the water and smiled and said “Look what you did to clean the water, you let the mud settle down on its own till clean water surfaced. Your mind is also like the water. When it is agitated it gets muddy and disturbed. Just let it be. Give it some time and it settles down own its own. And then clarity emerges. Still mind. Still water.” Buddha smiled.?

Clarity is the state of being clear in one's thoughts, feelings, and intentions. It is the ability to see things as they truly are, without confusion, ambiguity, or uncertainty. Clarity is essential for making informed decisions, setting goals, and achieving success in all areas of life. Achieving clarity in a fast-paced world requires intentional effort, discipline, and strategies to manage our time, attention, and mental energy.
?
Clarity is a state of mental and emotional clearness that allows you to see things as they truly are, separating facts from opinions, and to distinguish between what is real and what is not. It enables one to recognize and understand one’s emotions, values, and motivations.??It aids in prioritising tasks, setting goals, and allocating time and resources effectively. It enables one to make informed and thoughtful decisions thus increasing productivity. It also enhances creativity and aids in building better relationships.

“Clarity is essential. Knowing exactly what you want builds your self-confidence immeasurably”, opined?Brian Tracy
?
In this world of?information overload which is triggering mental clutter rendering it difficult for one to focus and think clearly. Riled up emotions, stress, anxiety, and multitasking add up to the confusion thus masking the goals and priorities. Thoughts are so strong that they can clutter one’s mind thus creating chaos like the muddy water. Lack of clarity leads to procrastination, mental fogginess and confusion,?

The senses are so strong and turbulent, O son of Kunti, that they can forcibly carry away the mind even of a person endowed with discrimination who practices self-control.

Achieving clarity requires effort, discipline, and practice.
Here are some ways that can help to gain clarity:?
?
1. Reflect and Introspect.
Take time and be patient to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
2. Plan and set clear goals
3. Prioritize on what is truly important.
4. Eliminate distractions such as social media, email, or phone notifications, which can derail focus and clarity.
5. Seek feedback and help where required.
6. Practice mindfulness??
??
Use Technology to your advantage. Leverage tools like calendar reminders, automated workflows, and project management software to streamline tasks and reduce mental overhead. Plan and batch similar tasks to optimise time. Be mindful of your commitments and learn to say no to non-essential tasks that can derail focus and clarity. Stay organised, both physically, mentally and digitally, to reduce distractions to lead with mental clarity.
