Clare Pearce, Deputy CEO

Jessie May is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our Deputy CEO Clare Pearce after a short illness.

Clare joined Jessie May in July 2019 as Director of Funding Development, before becoming Deputy CEO in 2023. During her time at Jessie May Clare led on several successful fundraising initiatives and saw the charity grow every area of charitable fundraising.

Prior to joining Jessie May, Clare had a long and successful career with leadership roles across many charities, including ten years as Head of Events at the British Heart Foundation, Head of Fundraising at Jon Egging Trust, and as CEO at Oxfordshire Association for the Blind.

Clare was a much loved, valued and respected member of the Jessie May team and nationally she was respected for her professionalism, leadership and commitment to improving palliative care for children and their families.

Daniel Cheesman, CEO of Jessie May, said,

“Words can not express how sad we are to learn of Clare’s untimely death.Whilst we had known that this day was coming, the team are devastated to say goodbye to someone who was so well respected and much loved. Clare was not only an inspirational colleague but she also deeply cared about the charity and her role within it.

Personally, Clare was the best Deputy I could have asked for and she was a wise source of guidance and support, right up until a couple of weeks ago. She will be greatly missed by all who worked with her during her career and by everyone at Jessie May. Our thoughts are with Clare’s family and friends at this time.”
