The Clara Labs Series A

The Clara Labs Series A

We are thrilled to announce Clara Labs' 7M Series A, led by Xuezhao Lan of Basis Set Ventures and introducing Slack Fund, Aditya Agarwal, and XFactor. We are honored to welcome returning investors Sequoia Capital, First Round Capital, Upside Ventures, Greg Brockman, Adam Goldstein, and Danielle Morrill.

Thank You.

Firstly: Finding people as thoughtful, curious, and fundamentally kind as those on the Clara Labs team is hard; every person involved is a phenomenon in their own right. To this team: thank you for your relentless drive and good humor. It is the greatest gift of my life to work alongside you.

Secondly: In a world where most venture firms work to split hairs differentiating themselves, Lan and Basis Set are absolute stand-outs. I am tremendously grateful to have a woman I so admire and respect joining our board.

Thirdly: We could not have asked for a more enthusiastic support network. Our customers and contractors have worked closely with our team as we've developed this product. Clara's investors, mentors, and friends are the best in the world at what they do. To these friends: your graciousness makes me hopeful for what Silicon Valley will become.

Who are we?

Scheduling meetings is the daily front-end workflow for billions of businesspeople: sales teams, financial advisors, community organizers, marketing consultants, recruiters, and people managers at large. In 2014, Clara Labs was founded with a vision for a system that could elegantly manage this calendaring responsibility, bringing the long-mythologized Professional Assistant to market.

In the following years this cooperatively intelligent, or Human-in-the-Loop, system was developed in beta alongside hundreds of customers; this system enables an assistant that is intelligent, affordable, and scalable in ways neither its human nor SaaS alternatives are capable of.

Today Clara coordinates between thousands of people a week, helping our customers and meeting guests manage their time and relationships - every person's most important assets. Having proven the efficacy of Human-in-the-Loop, the Clara Labs of 2017 is excited to say that this is just the beginning.

Where are we going?

We're building integrations to bring Clara deeper into the workflows of teams everywhere. Clara will live in our Slack accounts, integrate with our conference room management systems, talk to our CRMs and help manage our Applicant Tracking Systems.

We're investing more deeply in the Clara experience for our customers and meeting guests. The Clara we're becoming is proactively intelligent, improving our understanding of our calendars and making it truly simple to connect with people.

Finally, we're recruiting the teammates that will introduce Clara into the lives of the next several thousands of companies. If you're interested in the opportunities enabled via Human-in-the-Loop and intelligent, integrated calendars, please don't hesitate to reach out! We'd love to find a time to talk.

Congrats. Know this is just the beginning of another great chapter!

Congrats! Although I agree that meeting scheduling is often a pain, is the inefficiency of setting meetings really a significant drag on most businesses relative to other areas such as supply chain, order management, etc? Also: does your Slack funding preclude you from integrating into MSFT Teams? I've used both Slack and Teams and found Teams to be far better at real-world (ie. Non-startup) collaboration for cross-functional and interorganizational teams.
