News Brief: Carriers Push Back on Remote Work; Busted at the Gym

A story this week highlights the benefits of doing a little extra digging on suspicious claims.?The Hartford's commercial insurance unit handling group benefits for large employers has?won?a disability case after a former employee of tech giant?EMC, now part of?Dell, was video recorded lifting weights at a gym "all day long," despite having been relieved of employment for medical reasons and being in receipt of short-term and long-term salary replacement payments from The Hartford since 2008.
With examples like that is it any wonder trust is in short supply? Some commercial insurers have changed their tune when it comes to hiring remote workers. Others are?requiring?more in-office time, even though they aren't completely backing away from the hybrid model.
