The CIVIS Year in Review #3
CIVIS - Europe's Civic University Alliance
1 alliance, 11 universities, countless possibilities
From July to September, CIVIS made significant progress in collaboration, research and innovation. Here are some highlights of the quarter:
CIVIS joined over 60 European Universities in the launch of FOR-EU4All, a Community of Practice dedicated to fostering collaboration and sharing best practices. This initiative formalises years of cooperation, empowering alliances to tackle challenges and transform higher education across Europe.
Through its Seed Funding Call, CIVIS approved 25 joint research projects addressing critical societal challenges, from climate resilience to cultural heritage. These interdisciplinary programmes unite European and African universities, driving impactful and sustainable innovation.
In September, the European Universities Alliances Conference in Toulouse provided a platform to discuss internationalisation, EU-Africa mobility, and academic diplomacy. CIVIS presented its vision for collaboration and celebrated the successes of its partnerships with African universities.
The CIVIS Days at Paris Lodron Universit?t Salzburg brought together the Alliance to reflect on achievements and set future goals. Key moments included the ceremonial signing of the Alliance Agreement, the introduction of CIVIS’s first Secretary General, and inspiring creative sessions, including a memorable choir performance.
