The CIVIS Year in Review #2
CIVIS - Europe's Civic University Alliance
1 alliance, 11 universities, countless possibilities
From April to June 2024, the #CIVIS community came together to strengthen collaboration, empower student voices, and pioneer new academic initiatives. Here are the key moments from this quarter:
In March, the University of Glasgow hosted a Student and Staff Week that brought together over 30 CIVIS participants to shape the future of student-led projects. Through workshops and discussions, they crafted a framework to empower students in civic engagement and interdisciplinary projects across the Alliance.
From 29-30 April, student representatives gathered at the Université de Lausanne to advance their action plans and initiatives. The Roomieswap project, a platform for student accommodation exchange, emerged as a standout idea and will be a pilot for CIVIS "student-led projects."
In April, CIVIS students joined peers from 41 university alliances in Strasbourg for the European Student Assembly (#ESA24) at the European Parliament. Panels discussed themes like AI ethics, climate action, and migration policy, shaping recommendations to influence European policy.
