Civil War 2.0

The fact that there is open discussion about the ever-increasing prospect of civil war…in America…yet again, terrifies and saddens me beyond my capacity to articulate that terror and sadness.?More impactful than my terror is my abject sadness, which I believe is quietly experienced by other Black Americans as a collective deJa’vu. Of course, I have no lived experience of America during that morally desolate time; however, I am beginning to feel what I strongly suspect my forebears felt up to and during America’s Civil War and thereafter…?

Civil war 2.0 ?began in 2016.?I believe a systematic and objective consideration of circumstances and events from 2016 to this very moment will unveil the truth about us as a nation – we haven’t changed much since slavery and Jim Crow…we’ve only gotten better at disguising it.?Instead of bullets the power of the ballot is taken away to squelch our voice, kill our spirit, diminish our participation in the great democratic experiment.?Instead of unifying, we cannibalize each other.?We turn our anger onto ourselves.?We don’t support each other or our movements with the same vigor and vim seen in other communities.?“Crabs in a Barrel” we’ve become or, better yet, have not moved away from????I would think this tactic would be crystal clear by now…

On another note…?The Bald Eagle is our nations’ symbol of freedom and strength.?The Bald Eagle cannot fly without a right wing or without a left wing.?The wings flap together in unison to propel the Eagle; the wings enable the eagle to soar high and mightily.?In 2016 a voice emerged that spoke aloud the heartfelt secrets of many.?That voice twisted and mangled many real and legitimate concerns about our nation.?That voice contorted those views and “weaponized” issues and used them to pit the right wing against the left wing thus forcing this great nation to land and our nation has not soared high and mightily since.?Americans are again being pitted one against the other.?It is so hard to believe that someone could be so integral to the slow but accelerating erosion of our nation.

Right Winger, Left Winger, Progressives, Conservatives, Liberals should all be American FIRST…?What happened to morality, the dignity of the office, integrity??Like and support whomever you please but not at the expense of ignoring the truth.?

America needs to wake up and Black America needs to stay awake…
